Tamoa connects native corn farmers from Mexico with restaurants in Mexico and abroad, keeping endangered species of corn in demand and offering a sustainable business model to the farmers.
We choose a name that reminded people of intrinsic importance in Mexico’s history: Tamoanchan is a mythical place that early Mesoamerican cultures considered the origin of corn.
We developed a simple icon that illustrates the symbiosis of humans and corn while also denoting the handmade tortillas that Tamoa produce.
Stylistically the logo references the post revolution art in Mexico, which placed emphasis on the country’s indigenous traditions and the importance of corn in the history of the country as a life source and democratic food.
