La Vibra is a taqueria in Houston, Texas inspired by the taco culture of Mexico City. We set out to capture the spirit of the Mexican capital without resorting to cultural cliches.

Mexico City’s vibrancy inspired the name (La Vibra = The Vibe).

Metalwork found on window bars and gates throughout the Mexican Capital was referenced for the furniture and interior fixtures and translated into graphic patterns used in the identity. Custom furniture was designed by Uhuru, who developed chairs, benches and tables that tied-in with the interior and identity.

La Vibra's typography is based on the bent-metal lettering commonly used for signs in CDMX. Yellow and Magenta are staples of Mexican art, which we decided to embrace and combine with neutral colors (black, white and grey) and contemporary materials (concrete, natural oak, subway tiling).
